About the Scheme
The Suffolk Pension Fund is part of the national Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS). Members include people who work for Suffolk County Council, any of the Suffolk District Councils or Parish Councils and a whole range of other organisations such as local colleges who have applied to be part of the fund. The LGPS is a qualifying scheme under the automatic enrolment provisions of the Pensions Act 2008 and because it is a statutory scheme, it is very secure because the benefits paid in retirement are defined and set out in law. Teachers and operational staff in the police and fire and rescue service have their own pension schemes.
